Joseph Shepherd Adams was an attorney, and later a judge in criminal court, in Asheville, NC.
According to the NC Yearbook and Business Directory for 1910, he was presiding judge of the 16th judicial
district during the spring term of that year, and resident judge in the 15th judicial district (winning the election
by 145,005 votes to his opponent V. S. Lusk's 107,698 votes).
