Note: The Bell family property in north Buncombe County, off the Barnardsville Highway on what is
now Arrowhead Fields Road, was later occupied by the family of Roy A. Childers and Margaret Inez
Shepherd Childers from about 1952 on for many years, and part of the farm is still owned by the
Childers sons.
Note: The Bells, including their first three sons, were among the founding members of Piney
Mountain Baptist Church, and O. Taylor Bell was one of the authors of an elaborate obituary for
John Wesley Shepherd.
