Harry D. Bruce
Weaverville – Harry D. Bruce, 82, of Weaverville, died at his home after a short illness on Monday,
June 14, 2010.
Mr. Bruce was born August 15, 1927, in Buncombe County. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army,
serving in World War II. He was the son of the late William A. and Lizzie Gentry Bruce. In addition to
his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma, who died in 2003.
Surviving are his daughter, Dolores Brown (Daryl) of Newberry, S.C.; son, Donald E. Bruce
(Donna) of Swannanoa; sister, Lib Langford of Weaverville; brother, Bill Bruce of Leicester;
grandchildren, Drew Brown (Lisa), Jordan Bruce, and Hannah Bruce; and great grandson, Ethan
Mr. Bruce's funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, June 17, 2010, at Morgan Hill Baptist
Church, with the Revs. Kevin Garner and Mike Siemans officiating.
Burial will be in Morgan Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon
Ave., Weaverville, where the body will remain until placed in the church one hour prior to the
