Notes: In 1830, the census of Macon County describes the Humphrey Childers household thus:
1 male, less than 5 years;
1 male, 20 - 29
1 female, 15 - 19

In 1840, the
census of Macon County describes the Humphrey Childers household thus:
1 male, less than 5 years;
3 males, 5 to 9 years;
1 male, 10 - 14;
1 male, 30 - 39;
1 male, 40 - 59;
1 female, 20 - 29.

*In 1850, Eleanor Childers, age 3, resided with Sally's sister
Jane Hibbard Beasley and family. Is Eleanor
Sally's daughter, taken by sister Jane to help the Childers family after Sally died?

In the 1860 census Humphrey Childers resided at census house #391, Webster, Jackson Co NC. His
occupation was listed as miller. Sarah's daughter by her previous marriage,  Amlinda (1837 - ?), was
listed in the household as "A. Childers," age 23, along with  "J. N. Childers", age 2.

In 1880, Humphrey Posey Childers was living with wife Sarah in Birdtown (near Cherokee, Swain Co, NC),
next to Yo-na-skee-nah  (trans. "Devil Bear" thanks to Peggy Lambert). In that census, "Amlinda Wilson,"
age 43? "wife's daughter" and "John Wilson," age 21, "wife's grandson" were still listed in the household.
