Jackson Co NC Henderson Co? TN Sevier Co TN
Lura "Lury" D. Childers (Hurst), 1900 - 1987
Note: In 1900, this household, in Sevier County, TN, included Andrew Guilliams, "partner", (Martha's brother) age 24. Rubin Childers was
Some sources say Lura Hurst was the daughter of William Thomas Moore; however, the 1930 census of Sevier Co TN (when Lura Hurst
resided in the Moore household -- see below -- along with children Ruth Hurst, age 6, and Theodore Hurst, almost 4) says that Lura Hurst was
Thomas's step-daughter. Thus we assume that she was the daughter of Reuben Childers, as indicated in the 1900 census.
Note on the name: "Guilliams" and "Quilliams" (or "Quiliams" or "Quillams") seem to be used almost interchangeably in the
Jackson/Swain county area of North Carolina. The choice of one over the other here is quite arbitrary, and
subject to correction as more sources are examined.
