                       Samuel Childers’ Purchase from Casper Hedric

Know all men by these presents that I Casper Hedric of the State of North Carolina and County of Buncombe
for and in consideration of sum of one hundred and fifty Dollars to me in hand paid by Samuel Childres of the
state and county aforesaid at and before the sealing and signing of these presents the receipt and payment
whereof is hereby acknowledged for myself and my heirs do hereby bargain, tell and confirm unto him the said
Samuel Childers his heirs and assigns forever a certain piece of Land in the county and state aforesaid Situate
lying and being as follows, on the west side of French Broad River in the county and state aforesaid in the Gap
of the mountains betwixt Philips branch and Elijah Lees Mill Creek, Beginning on a White Oak on a ridge near
the head of a spring Near John Biffles Mill path runs South two hundred & fifty poles to a post oak, Thence
East one hundred & sixty poles to a white oak, Thence North two hundred & fifty poles to a stake, Thence
West one hundred & sixty poles to the beginning. Containing two hundred and fifty acres more or less and [ ? ]  
from States Grant 936 which said peice or parcel of land with ways, woods, waters and Every Other
appurtenance Thereunto belonging. I have myself my heirs Executors and administrators Sold set over
Conveyed Released and Confirmed in Open Market to the said Samuel Childers his heirs Executors
administrators or assigns forever and I do hereby for myself my heirs Executors and administrators Covenant to
and with the said Samuel Childers his Executors or assigns that I and my heirs Executors or administrators Shall
warrant and defend The said piece or parcel of Land with all and every of its members [of?] or from all lawful
Claim of any person or persons whatsoever unto the said Samuel Childers his heirs administrators or assigns In
witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twentieth day of October One Thousand Eight
hundred and Seven.
