U. S. Census, 1870, Raysville, Madison Co NC: Nancy, age 54 is keeping house; "Sheppard Deaver,"
age 25, is teaching school. John, 21; Cordelia, 18; Robert, 16; James, 14; and "Hariot," 10, are
"attending school". (Reuben, age 30, farm laborer, is living in Marshall, NC, with wife "Mira", age 22,
and two young children.)
U. S. Censuses, 1900 and later: Shepherd T. Deaver is living in Hamblen Co, TN, with wife Dora, and
daughter Marie (age 14 in 1910 Census). He and Dora are still listed in the 1930 census.
