"Robinson Gaston Freeman was a farmer. He was five feet ten inches tall. At the age of twenty six on
May 7, 1862, he joined the service and was a member of the 60 Reg't North Carolina Infantry. He died
of typhoid fever April 22, 1863, in Tullahoma, Tennessee and is buried in the National Cemetery, Camp
Martin, Greenville, Tennessee."

records as follows:
Occupation, Farmer; Age at enlistment, 26; Enlistment date, 5 Jul 1862; Rank at enlistment, Sergeant;
Place, Buncombe County; Survived the war? No.
Service record (quoted exactly, including obvious errors/omission): "Commissioned an officer in.
Enlisted in on 07 May 1862. Promoted to Full Priv on 01 Jan 1863. Mustered out on 22 Apr 1863 at
Tullahoma, TN."
