(1) Thomas enlisted in US Army, Coast Artillery Regiment 43, 18 Jul 1901.
(2) In 1910, Sarah E. Green was a widow and head of the household at Qualla, Jackson Co NC. With her
were her youngest son Jacob, age 20; her daughter Nancy Hughes, age 28 (also a widow), and Nancy's
daughters Lizzie, 7, and Lenora, age 2. Sarah's occupation was farmer ("own farm"), and Jacob's was farm
laborer ("home farm").
(3) At her death, on 4 July 1917, the informant for Sarah E. Childers Green's death certificate was her son
John R. Green. She was buried beside her husband at Union Hill Cemetery, Whittier, Swain Co NC.
