Notes: At the time of the 1850 census, this family resided at Deep Creek, in Macon County,
NC. The census indicates that both James and Mahala were born in Burke County and all
children through Elizabeth were born in Caldwell County, NC. If correct, then the family
arrived in Macon County between 1841 and 1849.
In 1870, Mahala Green resided with Marion and Sarah Childers Green at Qualla, Jackson
County, NC. As James Green is not present, we may surmise that he had died by this time.
In 1880, Sarah C. Green, 45, resided with her sister Rebecca C. Green Childers and family
at Ocona Lufty, Swain County, NC.
