John Albert Lambert
Cherokee -- John Albert Lambert, 101, of the Birdtown community, died Thursday, Dec. 21, 2006, in a
Cherokee health care facility.
A native of Swain County, he was the son of the late Thomas and Laura Ann Griffin Lambert. He was a
farmer, a painter, loved to hunt bear, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, being stationed in Panama.
He was the husband of the late Sallie Ann Standingdeer Lambert. He was also preceded in death by his son,
Marcell; daughter, Caroline Standingdeer Lambert Robinson; four sisters, Julia Treadway, Hazel Jackson,
Myrtle McCoy and Nellie Lambert; three brothers, Joe, Herman and Frank Lambert.
He is survived by four daughters, Dorothy Rowena Roland of Cherokee, Peggy Lambert and husband, George,
of Cherokee, Doris Earlena Daves of Cherokee and Jonnie Ann Cunningham of Cherokee; two sons, Clyde
Lambert and wife, Mary, of North Field, Vt., and Buddy Thomas Lambert of San Diego; sister, Grace Allison
of Cherokee; 26 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and 25 great-greatgrandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bethabara Baptist Church. The Revs. Mitchell Smiley, Dan
Lambert, and James Bo Parris will officiate
Burial will be in Birdtown Cemetery, with graveside rites conducted by the Steve Youngdeer Post #9281.
The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the church.
Crisp Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
