                                      Violet Marshbanks Cook

Weaverville – Violet Elaine Bridget O'Flannagan Marshbanks Cook, 86, of 939 Old Mars Hill Hwy., went home
to be with the Lord on Friday, Aug. 4, 2006.

Mrs. Cook was born Nov. 19, 1919, in Buncombe County where she had lived all of her life. She was a school
teacher employed by the Buncombe County public school system, having retired in 1982 after 34 years of
teaching. She taught for 27 years at French Broad School and seven years at Barnardsville School.

Violet was the daughter of the late Stephen and Cora Hobson Marshbanks and wife of the late Clifton Shelton
Cook, who died in 1983. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Rebecca Cook English; brothers,
Stanley and Roy Marshbanks; foster brother, Charles McFarland; and sisters, Marian Jamerson, Faye Penland,
Mabel McFarland and Dorothy Wilson.

Surviving are her daughter, Jennifer Cook Bradley, her husband, Russell, and their children, Chris, Aeryk,
Nicklas and Aeryn of Weaverville; granddaughter, Stephanie English; and great-grandson, Keaton Bowens.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Forks of Ivy Missionary Baptist Church, of which she
was a member, with the Revs. Charles Carraway and Jerry Shelton officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave.,
Weaverville, where the body will remain until placed in the church one hour prior to the service. At other times
the family will be at the home of Jennifer Bradley, 115 Mundy Cove Road, Weaverville.
