"Caspar 'Cape' Martin . . . was postmaster and operator of a commissary
at Noland, North Carolina at the time of logging and lumbering
operations by the W. M. Ritter Company in that area." [early 1900's]

In 1880, Casper C. Martin resided, as a single man, age 27, at Qualla, Jackson Co NC. His
household included servant Tildy Gipson, age 22, and her son William M. Gipson, age 2. His
occupation was reported as farmer.

In 1900, Casper C. Martin resided, as a single man, age 46, at Charleston (Bryson City),
Swain Co NC. His occupation was sheriff.
