Terrell W. Myers 15 October 1911 - 18 November 1987
|
After service in World War II, Terrell
Myers suffered from what was then
called shell shock (now post-traumatic
stress disorder). After a frightening
flashback incident, he was hospitalized
at Broughton Psychiatric Hospital in
Morganton, NC. Toward the end of his
life, when more effective drugs for the
treatment of mental illness became
available, he was able to move to a
nursing home.
He is buried beside his mother,
Eugenia Shepherd Myers, in the
cemetery of Piney Mountain Baptist
Church.
