This carved and painted wood plaque (commissioned by son Chae-Kyu Ra) was made from Chung-Heung Ra's original
brush-and-ink calligraphy. The character names and rough translations, from
right to left, are (1) [gong] respectfulness,
(2) [kwan] generosity, (3) [shin] trustworthiness, and (4) [min] good citizenship. These ancient Confucian values were
among the character traits which he encouraged in his children. At the left are his artist name [Kgum Li] in small calligraphy
at the top followed below by his personal stamps (See detailed images below.)
