CORA R. ELKINS HAS HER 100TH BIRTHDAY

BARNARDSVILLE - Cora Riddle Elkins will celebrate her 100th birthday on March 26 with a party,
including visits and refreshments, at 2 p.m. at Mountain Valley Retirement Home, where she lives. Hosts
include her family, staff at Mountain Valley and members of Piney Mountain Baptist Church. Family and
friends are invited, and gifts are not necessary.
She was born on March 27, 1900, in Madison Co., one of five children and only daughter of the late
Jack and Minnie Jarvis Riddle. Her family moved to Buncombe Co., where she married Benjamin Frank
Elkins on March 21, 1918. they lived in the Stockton Branch area. He died suddenly on March 30, 1968,
and she continued to lived on her small farm until 1995, when she moved to Mountain Valley.
Aunt Cora, as she is known, enjoys visiting with her family and friends in person and on the telephone.
Her hobbies include reading, especially the Bible, and crocheting.

said Richard Riddle, nephew of Cora Riddle Elkins.
