 Record of Wills to Spring Term 1859

 John W. Ridell of the County of Madison
 State of North Carolina
 
 Being of sound mind and memory but considering the uncertainty of My Earthly
 existance do make and declare this my last Will and testament in the Manner
 and form following; that is to say--Item 1st. my Executor here in named
 Shall provide for my body a decent burial suitable to the Wishes of my
 waiting friends and pay all my Just debts and furneral Expences When Soever
 and to whome so ever owing out of the first monys that may be come into his
 hands as a part or parcil of My estate.
 
 2 It is my will and wish that my Executor Shall Sell at publick Sale all my
 personal and real Estate Except as here in after named and the proceeds
 Equally divided after paying all of My Just debts between my Wife Elvira
 Riddle and my Brother and sister Nancy Holcombe wife of John Holcome
 Hiram B. Riddle Julia A Rector Wife of Franklin Rector James E. Riddle Polly
 S A Riddle Matilda Riddle and my Father Nathaniel Riddle
 
 3 it is my Will that my father Nathaniel Riddle Shall have a Sorrell 3 year
 old filly now in his possession from and immediatly after my death
 one and share an Equal shear with my other heirs and lastly I do here by
 constitute and appoint my trusty Friend William C Clark my Lawful

 Executor to all intents and purposes to execute this my last Will and
 testament according to the true intent and meaning of the same and every
 part and clause thereinof hereby recalling and declaring utterally void all
 other wills and testaments by me here to fore made
 
 In witness whereof I the Said John W Riddle do here unto Set my hand this
 the 7 day Feb  AD. 1859

 Signed Sealed and Delivered & Published and declared by the said John W
 Riddle to be his last Will and Testament in the presents who at his request
 and in his presents do subscribe our names as Witnesses there to
