In 1900, when the census was taken, the young family resided at Mineral Bluff, Fannin County,
Georgia. Augustus was working in the copper mine.

In September 1909, Winifred Ernest Shepherd drowned while swimming at Carson-Newman College,
Jefferson City, TN, where he had just recently enrolled.

In 1920 Wayne Raymond Shepherd died in a mine accident in Miami, AZ.

When the 1920 census was taken, Earnie Vivian and her husband Jesse Fritts resided in Harriman,
TN, where Earnie was employed as a teacher at Harriman College. Jesse was a clerk in the post office.

In 1925 and 1938, the parental family resided at 2329 Linden Avenue, Knoxville, TN.

In April 1940, when the US Federal Census was taken, Earnie Vivien resided with her husband Jesse
Fritts at their home on Fairmont Street, a house which they owned, valued at $4500. Both were
employed as public school teachers. Jesse listed an annual salary of $1225, and Earnie listed an
annual salary of $1500. Eleanor and Frances resided with their widowed mother Sarah in Ward 14,
Knoxville, Tennessee. Eleanor was employed as a medical stenographer in a hospital. Frances was
employed as a stenographer in the mining industry.

In September 1940, Lake Denver enlisted for military service in the National Guard Infantry. His civil
occupation was listed as "Stenographers and typists", and he was single.

Parents and at least four children (Earnie, Lake, Eleanor, and Frances) are buried in Lynnhurst
Cemetery, Knoxville, TN. Winifred Shepherd was buried at Ducktown Methodist Church cemetery, Polk
