Note: Mother always used white cornmeal -- never yellow. She would preheat
the oven to 450 degrees, and she would also pre-heat the iron skillet, coated
with some oil or bacon drippings, for a few minutes while preparing the batter.
The idea was to make the skillet hot enough so that it would make a nice
brown crust on the cornbread. - Dwight Childers

Jello Salad, 1978
Note: This makes a nice savory cool salad to accompany a summer meal.
Mother would pour it into a flat glass baking dish to set, and then just serve it
