- Stephen A. Shepherd, "Descendants of Edward Thomas Shepherd"
"Here James grew up and, we assume, married, eventually moving to Halifax County where he lived for
a number of years. Before the start of the Revolution, James, John, and Robert moved to Wilkes
County, N. C. James settled on the north side of the Yadkin River opposite the mouth of Moravian
Creek while John and Robert settled on the Reddis River several miles up stream on adjoining
property, land grants #422 and #844, under date of 27 April 1778."
