Francis Marion Stockton served in the Civil War, in the NC 3rd Mounted Infantry.

According to the 1890 Veterans Schedule, he served as a private in Company K,
enlisting 1 March, 1865, and discharged on 8 August, 1865.

His 1890 post office address was listed as Morgan Hill, NC.

His physical condition was summarized as "Bronchitis, one eye out & cant hear
good".

In 1902, Francis Marion Stockton and his family were among the founders of
Piney Mountain Baptist Church.
