                                         William Thomas Ward
                                                               1828 - 1904

“[He] was apparently quite a ladies’ man.  Traditional history in my family says that he was the father of
at least two of Louvisa Emeline Farley's children.  Her brother Elbert Luther Farley was my great
grandfather.  Emeline had several children, but as far as I have been able to determine, she never
married.”

“Thomas enlisted on April 9, 1862. He served in Co. F, NC Thomas Legion, CSA, in the Civil War.”

”All though Tom's divorce from Emily Dawson wasn't final until the April term of 1868, he was taken to
court in Jackson Co. NC on Dec 23 1867, "The State and Elmina Gibson vs Thomas Ward." (Jackson
Co. Court minutes docket book-Jackson Co. Bastardy Bonds). This information was in the May-June,
July-August 1995 issue of Journey's Through Jackson, p. 63.”

”Thomas also fathered a child with Emmaline Farley about 1869.”

“1880 Jackson Co census list this family as follows: (#42) Thomas Ward, W, M, 52, head, married,
