Thomas David "Big Tom" Wilson
1 December 1824 - 1 February 1908
Pensacola, Yancey County, NC
Big Tom Wilson was famous (or even legendary) as a bear-hunter and
mountain guide. He found the body of Dr. Elisha Mitchell, for whom Mt.
Mitchell was named.

His death was noted in the New York Times on 6 February, 1908.
